 Martin Fickert
Born in 1964, currently living in Munich, Germany. My great fascination of nature already begun when I was little... combined with my love and the adventure to travel the world, my passion of Photography has developed as a result. There is no particular direction which I would like take as nature is too diverse and wonderful the way it is with thousands of beautiful motives that are ever changing. I now photograph since over 25 years and I am an ambitious amateur, not being able to leave out "any opportunity". Since 2005 I have switched from traditional photography to digital with a Canon (1Ds Mark III / 5D) and various lenses. A number of years ago I then discovered AFRICA where the raw and wild landscape and the magical wildlife sightings have kept me transfixed. I cannot satisfy my longing and have since returned on a yearly basis to the "dark continent". I am inspired by the natural wonders that one can encounter in East Africa. Each day is different and an adventure - it is never the same and new highlights present itself by the minute. It is the most exciting place and a paradise for a wildlife- / nature photographer. The dramatic light changes, the unusual wildlife and flora, the hospitality of the Kenyans make it an unforgettable experience. I have yet to meet people who can detach themselves once they have been to East Africa. As often described... "if it is in one's blood, one will always return".
