The Bisanandi National Reserve was opened in 1979 with a total area of 606 sq km. in the Eastern Province, in Isiolo district. |
The landscape is mostly thornbush that changes into swamps and palm tree forests near the banks of Tana River.
The Reserve shares its border with the Meru National Park The border of these areas is named also "Kinna" and it is a natural border for the Meru and the Boran tribes.
A true wilderness area without any accommodation it is only accessible by 4WD vehicles. There is an airstrip at Korbessa.
