Introduction: Born in 1974 in Kenya, single and Kikuyu by tribe
Letter from Francis:
I am Kikuyu by tribe, born in 1974 and
single. I attended both primary and secondary school in the Rift Valley
Province of Kenya. My passion for wildlife and conservation started early in
life and I was actively involved in conservation by being a member and patron
of the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya throughout my secondary education. Being a
member enabled me to visit most of our national parks and reserves.
After my secondary education, I joined a
college in Nairobi
and did a course in Motor Vehicle Mechanics for two years. Upon completing I
was employed by a hotel group hat had a lodge in Samburu . I was posted to
repair and maintain their vehicles. After working for a few months I
re-discovered my passion for wildlife and conservation and started reading
materials on wildlife and guiding and within a short time, I started part time
guiding within the Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve ,
and Shaba Game Reserve .
The management saw my deep interest in
wildlife and environment conservation and promoted me to a full time guide and
I gained a lot of experience in wildlife management. I was able to attend various
courses on Conservation and Sustainable Environment Management both in Nairobi and in house
training. I also did a refresher course in tour guiding at the Utalii College.
Samburu being an important bird area
enabled me to guide a lot of keen bird watchers. I am a member of KPSGA bronze
level. I worked for the lodge for a further 2½ years before joining Sunworld
Safaris where I have acquired a lot of experience as I am able to travel far
and wide.
I like showing visitors our beautiful
country and to interpret nature for them and also learn from them about their
country. I also like meeting new friends and of course old friends, reading and
watching movies of wildlife and nature. Traveling is what I enjoy the best! I
look forward to welcoming you to Kenya!
