Introduction: I was born in 1974 in Mau location, Narok District. I got married only recently to a Maasai lady (teacher) and am looking forward to having my first-born child. I am a Maasai by tribe and very proud of my cultural background. My interest in wildlife and to become a driver / guide started with the age of 19 where I was lucky to be taken on a safari (my first) to the Mara Game Reserve by a Catholic Missionary. It was the most fantastic experience I had ever had ! While on game drive I was so much carried away by the wildlife existing in our country and by the knowledge my friend had about it, that it made me fall in love with nature all of a sudden. Although my parents had planned a different career for me in the Banking Industry I was ready to drop everything and pursue whatever it would take to become a safari guide. Being able to enjoy wildlife and nature was my ultimate dream… It took me a couple of days to convince my father to part with some cows to get college fees and immediately when the funds were available I joined the Kenya Hotel Institute in Nakuru for my Tour Guiding and Administration course. I also studied German for two years. Once I finished the two-year course I joined Delamere Camp for further Training in Ornithology! I was then employed as a guide (to perform nature walks) at Delamere Camp for 1,5 years. To widen my knowledge I decided to join Sekenani Camp in Mara as a Naturalist / Driver / guide. My job was to conduct nature walks, lectures, slideshows and game drives. The camp closed down due to financial problems and I later joined Siana Springs (now Intrepids) Camp as an Assistant Naturalist / Driver guide for 3 years. To broaden my horizon I decided to leave Siana to emphasize more in the field of guiding. SUNWORLD SAFARIS offered me a job giving me the opportunity to get to know all of Kenya’s fantastic National Parks and Game Reserves. In 1999, I joined the Kenya Professional Safari Guide Association and am since a KPSGA bronze holder. I am currently studying for the silver badge. My hobbies are traveling, reading as well as playing basketball. My ambition is to learn anything that will enhance client satisfaction. I am also a member of “Nature Kenya” based at the National Museum of Kenya. Whenever possible I attend their lectures and field trips…
