Letter from Michael Kiseu Mwachia:

I was born and brought up in Taita Taveta district of the Coast province, which neighbours the famous Tsavo East /West National Parks. Tsavo National Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Kenya, commonly known because of the infamous man-eating lions, which killed many workers during the construction of London line in 1986-1901.

During my School days, I was the school wildlife club patron .We organised self directed field guides during our school holidays and in addition, we also did communal works within and outside Tsavo National Park. This sparked my interest in professional tour guiding and hospitality. As the club patron, I also got the chance to develop and practice leadership skills, organisation and conducting successful tour adventures in parks and reserves.

As my interest in tour guiding grew, I decided to join Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association for professional qualifications as a skilled Kenyan guide. Currently, am a proud bronze holder, aiming for a silver medal.

In my career as a professional Safari Guide, I have worked with Africa Retreat as a driver guide which has given me more exposure to the Tourism industry. I have had the opportunity to meet and interact with renowned clients from different parts of the world, including many professional photographers.

My hobbies include reading wildlife articles and journals, touring and listening to inspirational music.
