Letter from Richard:
I was born on the 13th December 1973 in Nyahururu, commonly known as "Thomson Falls". I am a Christian by religion and married with three children. After completing my secondary school education, I joined paramilitary services where I went through twelve month rigorous training. Throughout my career in the military service I had a chance to visit different parts of Kenya, hence getting to know various National parks and Reserves in the country. My camping skills developed a great deal as a result.
After consulting widely, I decided to resign from the Military and joined Mara Intrepids Camp where I did a one year training as a Tour guide. From this point it was clear to me that my main interest lay in nature and wildlife.
My tenure at Mara Intrepids Safari Camp gave me an opportunity to socialize with people from different parts of the world while on Safari which I enjoyed very much.
I joined Sunworld Safaris in the year 2006 as a professional Safari guide. My guiding skills have improved immensely as a result of the various Safaris with clients from all over the world. I personally have a keen interest in photography and support wildlife conservation but in particular the endangered species like the cheetah and the black Rhinoceros.
I am meanwhile a Silver guide member of the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association (KPSGA) which I am proud of.
Apart from being an ardent conservationist, I enjoy nature walks, hiking, bird watching and playing football.
