Letter from William Kitongat Ole Sitima:

I was born in 1963 in the Trans Mara Narok County. I come form the famous pastoralist tribe the Maasai.I am married with 4 children and was lucky enough to grow up in the world renowned Maasai Mara Game Reserve where I developed a great passion for wildlife and its conservation. Encountering wild animals on my way to school and when herding cattle was the order of the day.

My career in the tourism industry started with my first job as a waiter at Governors Camp in the Maasai Mara. I soon rose in rank from waiter to barman, having successfully completed various courses at Utalii College in Food and Beverage services. I later moved to Mpata Safari Club where I worked in the Supervision Department.

My interest in guiding grew with time during my stay at Mpata Safari club. Despite being in the service industry, my great passion for  wildlife couldn't be overshadowed.   Eventually I decided to obtain a driving license and register for courses in Wildlife and conservation to increase my knowledge. My first assignment as a Safari guide was at Mara Safari club. I went out on the usual game drives as well as nature walks at the Camp. My knowledge of the Maasai culture and traditions was of great importance during the cultural lectures organized at the camp.

I am a bronze member of Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association and joined Sunworld Safaris with a view of expanding my knowledge about Kenya and its wildlife as well as the neighbouring countries. So far I have had several successful safaris with guests from different parts of the world. I have also had an opportunity of going on safari with renowned photographers and film crews. I had a brief stint managing the exclusive Mara Bush Camp in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in 2007
