Nairobi – Samburu – Sweetwaters Sanctuary - Lake Nakuru - Lake Naivasha - Maasai Mara – Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha - Nairobi
Detailed ItineraryDay 1: 05.05.2012- Arrival in NairobiUpon arrival in Nairobi you will be met by our representative and transferred to Nairobi Serena Hotel, where you will have time to relax from the long flight and acclimatize to Africa. Dinner at own arrangement. (Overnight at Nairobi Serena Hotel on bed & breakfast) Day 2: 06.05.2012 Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve:  Early morning at 07.30 am (after breakfast and check-out), your driver guide will pick you up and proceed to the famous Samburu National Reserve. Drive through the famous Coffee Plantations and past snow capped Mount Kenya to arrive in time for lunch at your lodge. Samburu is an area with diverse landscapes, ranging from dry savanna grasslands and the chocolate brown Ewaso Nyiro River to a rich eco-system with dramatic doum palms and green river frontage where rare animal species such as the Grevy Zebra, long necked Gerenuk Antelope, Somali Ostrich and Beisa Oryx are found. The reticulated Giraffe is another of one that is rarely seen anywhere else. Proceed on an afternoon game drive in the reserve. Dinner & overnight at Samburu Lodge – (full board) Day 3: 07.05.2012- Full day Samburu National Reserve Proceed on an early morning game drive immediately after breakfast or you may opt to take a picnic lunch with you and choose to do an extended full day drive. Your guide will be at your disposal throughout the Safari, offering you his extensive knowledge on wildlife as well as the proud local Samburu Community. (Dinner &overnight at Samburu Lodge (full board) Day 4: 08.05.2012 Samburu National Reserve – Sweetwaters Sanctuary: Enjoy another early morning game drive as this is the time when most of the animals are active and out hunting early morning. After breakfast, depart for Sweetwater’s Private Game Sanctuary: This is the only place in Kenya where Chimpanzees are found. Sweetwaters is home to orphaned Chimpanzees, introduced to Kenya by the British researcher Jane Goodall to protect the otherwise endangered species. The Reserve has a high concentration of animals in relation to its area. Elephant, buffalo and the rare Rhino, including “Rhino Max” that can be found there. You will have an opportunity to get close up and personal, even touch him. Max’s mother was killed by poachers, leaving the poor calf under the care of the Rangers. After lunch proceed on unlimited game drives in the reserve. (Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Tented Camp (full board) Day 5: 09.05.2012 Sweetwaters Sanctuary to Lake Nakuru National Park:  After breakfast proceed to the famous Lake Nakuru National Park, driving past the Aberdares and part of Laikipia with its highest point being Nyahuhuru and on to the Thompson Waterfalls for a brief stop. Lake Nakuru is famous for its amazing population of Flamingoes, Pelicans and the high number of White and Black Rhino. It boasts one of the famous Lakes in the Great Rift Valley. Enjoy lunch at Flamingo Hill Camp and we invite you then for an afternoon game drive in the park, leading us to the famous Baboon Cliff, offering breathtaking views of the lake and its environs. (Dinner & overnight at Flamingo Hill Camp (Full board) Day 6: 10.05.2012 – Lake Nakuru National Park – Lake Naivasha: Enjoy the beautiful African sunrise by the Lake. The early morning sunshine coupled with the morning fog and the numerous birds turn the lake into a mysterious place. After your game drive retreat back to your Camp for a scrumptious breakfast, before checking out for the next destination. At Lake Naivasha, arrive at the beautiful Sopa Lodge right in time for lunch. The Lodge boasts beautiful grounds, where one can relax and watch wild animals at close range including a great variety of birds. In the afternoon, proceed on a guided walk to Crescent Island. Here you will find Giraffe, different antelope species which you can get close to without your vehicle. The huge African pythons are also a common attraction here, this shouldn’t scare you since your special guide/ naturalist will be with you throughout giving you relevant information and protection. (Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge (Full board) Day 7: 11.05.2012 Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara Game Reserve  Leave this scenic Lake early in the morning after breakfast and depart for the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Enjoy your first game drive en-route as you head to your safari lodge, Mara Serena. The Maasai Mara is the most famous destination in Kenya as it is the place with the highest concentration of predators found anywhere in Africa. The lodge has an excellent location on top of the hill, overlooking the African Savannah and its inhabitants. After a late lunch, proceed on an afternoon game drive until sunset. Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Lodge. (full board) Day 8 & 9: 12.05.2012-13.05.2012 Full day Maasai Mara National Park: Discover the Savannah grasslands of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve and the amazing concentration of wildlife. You may discuss your game drive timings with your guide and agree on your preferred timings together with the other participants in your vehicle. There are options of an early morning and afternoon game drive or one can choose to spend the whole day out in the bush with a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena lodge( full board) Day 10: 14.05.2012 Maasai Mara Game Reserve – Serengeti National Park After an early breakfast, depart Mara Serena Lodge with packed lunches to Isebania, the Western border of Kenya and Tanzania. After going through the immigration process, exchange vehicles and proceed towards Serengeti Serena. Throughout the Safari you will have your vehicle on exclusive use. A game drive en’route leads you to Serengeti Serena Lodge. You will enjoy your packed lunch at a scenic spot on the way. The month of May offers a good chance of seeing the large herds of wildebeests, trekking slowly from the Serengeti towards the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Arrive late afternoon at your Safari Lodge.(Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena (Full board) Day: 11.15.2011- Full day Serengeti National Park: Spend the whole day out on unlimited game drives with lots of stunning wildlife sightings. 1n 1913 Stewart Edward White wrote in his book,’ we moved several miles through the dry land. Suddenly I saw green trees at the river bank, moved a few miles further and I found myself in Paradise’ Discover with your own eyes the fascinating eco-system of the world famous Serengeti National Park. ( Dinner & overnight at Serengeti Serena (full board) Day 12: 16.05.2012 Serengeti –Ngorongoro Conservation Area.  After breakfast depart to the Ngorongoro Conservation area. On the way, visit the famous Ol Duvai Gorge, the famous cradle of mankind. The oldest fossils of mankind are believed to have been found here. You will arrive at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge in time for late lunch. The entire afternoon is at your disposal and can be spent relaxing or enjoying the Lodge’s facilities. The Lodge offers an amazing view of the Crater, the 8th Natural Wonder of the world. It has an unmatched concentration of wildlife with a diameter of up to 20 kms ! It is one of the largest Calderas in the world. Ngorongoro is also home to the endangered Black Rhino, Elephants, Lions, Buffalos and several other grass eaters. Birdlife is also remarkable here, especially at Lake Magadi on the floor of the Crater. (Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge (full board)Day 13: 17.05.2012 Full day Ngorongoro Crater Experience an extra ordinary day with an extended game drive deep down to the floor of the Crater. Enjoy your game drive at with amazing morning light good for excellent photography. The fascinating number of animals down the Crater and its splendid landscape is breathtaking. You will enjoy your lunch at the famous picnic site down the Crater. (Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. (full board) Day 14: 18.05,2012 Ngorongoro Crater:- Mto wa Mbu – Arusha After an early breakfast, depart for Arusha to arrive at Serena Mountain Village in the afternoon. Re-visit the Safari experiences at a Sundowner as the Safari comes slowly to an end. (Dinner and overnight at Serena Mountain Village Lodge) (Full board) Day 15: 19.05.2012-Arusha Nairobi: After breakfast we start our journey back to Nairobi, to arrive at the capital city early afternoon. As a good ending to your trip, visit the Giraffe Sanctuary, thereafter enjoy dinner with all participants at the Nairobi Serena Hotel: Overnight at Nairobi Serena Hotel (Bed & Breakfast) Day 16: 20.05.2012: Flight out of Nairobi – Destination of Origin Transfer to the Airport for international flight. End of the Safari
