The Lake Bogoria National Reserve, covering a total area of 107 sq km is located in the northern region of the Kenyan Rift, 25 km south of Baringo and can be accessed either via road or air. With over 135 species of birds flocking the region, the bird life is the primary attraction. Exotic birds like the tawny eagle, pratincole, swift, little bee-eater, cape wigeon, yellow-billed stork, African spoonbill and augur buzzard can be seen. Other major attractions include the Reserve's herd of the rare Greater Kudu and other game like buffalo, zebra, cheetah, baboon, warthog, caracal, spotted hyena and many small mammals. The Lake Bogoria National Reserve is an ornithologists' heaven hence bird watching a must. Other activities include walking through the trails and game viewing. There are facilities provided for camping and picnicking too.
