Day 3
Full day in Kibale Rainforest National Park
Breakfast at your lodge and thereafter transferred to the chimpanzee trekking base. After a brief orientation depart for the Chimpanzee trekking with your local ranger to see these amazing creatures closest to us. Like us, chimps are highly social animals, care for their offspring for years and can live to be over 50 years. Chimps usually travel on all fours, though they can walk on their legs like humans for as far as a mile. They use sticks to fish termites out of mounds and bunches of leaves to sop up drinking water. The probability of actually finding the primates is 95%. Sometimes they hide up in the trees and it's not easy to spot them. In addition to the chimpanzees, there are also other primates that are native in this forest such Colobus monkeys, red monkeys, diadem black-backed white-nosed meerkats and many other species. Over 300 species of birds and 140 species of butterflies make the forest an oasis for nature lovers. The chimpanzee trekking takes about 2 - 4 hours and you cover a distance of 3 - 5km back. Afternoon at leisure or take a guided walk in the Bigodi Swamp excellent for birders as well as other primates. All meals and overnight at THE PRIMATE LODGE.
Tip: Instead of the normal chimpanzee trekking, the habituation can also be booked for a surcharge. Here you have much more time in a smaller group. Take a hike through the Bigodi Swamps in the morning. Many different plant species, bird species and many more make the hike unique.

Day 5
Full day in QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK (Northern sector)
A busy day awaits you today. In the morning you start chimpanzee trek in the Kyambura valley. The 16km long canyon forms a natural border with the Kyambura Wildlife Sanctuary to the east. It is especially a strong landscape in contrast to the open grass savanna. The gorge forms a closed habitat for the chimpanzees and the probability of seeing the animals is very high. After a 3-hour hike, a boat trip on the Kazinga Canal awaits you at 1600 hrs. In addition to the hippos and crocodiles in the water you can see much wildlife near the shore - a great opportunity to observe the animals from the boat up close and take pictures. With the sun setting, you will return and a last observation tour takes you back to your accommodation. All meals and overnight at MWEYA SAFARI LODGE.
Note: The chances of seeing the chimpanzees here are slightly lower than in Kibale Forest. But the hike through the gorge is unique.

It is the home to half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas. Nine other primate species are found here too. The name Bwindi Impenetrable is as a result of the landscape i.e. the dense mountain rain forest that developed since the Ice Age and the shrub and bush vegetation provide an ideal habitat for the primates. You will arrive at your accommodation in the afternoon located at an altitude of 2300m. Enjoy the view of the rainforest and the rest of the day at your leisure. Dinner and overnight at ENGAGI LODGE.

After breakfast you will be transferred to the Gorilla trekking base which is a few minutes’ drive from the lodge. The ranger follows the instructions and paths of the trackers who already left at sunrise. The trackers begin with spotting the overnight nest and from there follow their trails. As soon as they spot the gorillas your guide is informed accordingly. It is always a great and fulfilling moment when you are in the rainforest facing these "gentle jungle giants". The visit is only limited to 1 hour in order to minimize the disturbance of their natural rhythm of life. Then you head back to your accommodation. The path to the gorillas can be exhausting depending on the gorilla family being visited hence a certain fitness level is expected. It is also important that you are healthy. Even with colds / flu the access to the gorillas may be denied so that they are not endangered. A late lunch awaits you at your accommodation and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
